THE long awaited 2018/19 Absa Premiership started on a high note over this past weekend with new comers, Black Leopards and Highlands Park registering some positive results, writes NAKAMPE LEKWADU.
Playing their first league match in the top flight after four season absence, Leopards registered an epic 1-0 over cross-town rivals, Polokwane City at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium to win the first Limpopo Derby.
Elsewhere, another elite league returnee, Highlands Park forced a 1-1 draw away to Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium on the same day.
As if the Pirates-Highlands Park’s drawn match was not enough, the league’s defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns came from 1-0 deficit to force Kaizer Chiefs to a 1-all draw in an electrified league opener at the packed Loftus Stadium in Tshwane.
