SUPERSPORT United starts their Telkom Knockout title defense campaign with an away match to Polokwane City.

Matsatsantsa A Pitori who beat Platinum Stars 3-2 during last season’s final match of the competiton were today drawn against the Limpopo-based side in the last 16 stage match.

Last season’s finalists, Platinum Stars who won the competition in 2013 were drawn at home against strong opponents in Kaizer Chiefs.

The draw also saw the country’s big three sides such as Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates avoiding each other.

Both Sundowns and Pirates were drawn at home against Chippa United and University of Pretoria respectively.

The league’s returnees, Golden Arrows also enjoy the home ground advantages after their were drawn at home against Ajax Cape Town while their fellow rookies, Jomo Cosmos have been drawn away to Maritzburg United.

Other matches will see Bloemfontein Celtic taking on Mpumalanga Black Aces with Free State Stars welcoming Bidvest Wits.

This competition has over the years been known to connecting people from all parts of the country kicks off on Wednesday, September 30 with the rest of the first round of matches played on the weekend of October 3 and 4 and it is expected to pull out all the stops to ensure that fans remain connected to their passion for football with its fan focused activities at the stadiums.

Speaking at the launch, Telkom’ sponsorship Senior Specialist Braam Wessels urged fans to dig deep and unleash their passion.

“Telkom prides itself in connecting people across all communication platforms. Through the Telkom Knockout, we have successfully connected fans to their passion for football. Not only will this year’s Telkom Knockout connect fans to football but, through various activities for fans, they will enjoy unlimited celebration at all matches of the competition,” said Wessels

PSL chief executive Brand de Villiers said: “In line with this year’s theme of the Telkom Knockout of igniting rivalry amongst the supporters of different clubs, we are hoping to see fans coming in numbers to support their clubs. Together with our sponsors, Telkom, we would like to make this edition special for the supporters and thank them for their contribution to football. In our country, football remains the best vehicle for the corporate world to spread their message and, we would like to thank Telkom for showing faith in investing in domestic football. Last year, the PSL generated about two billion worth of coverage, and from that Telkom enjoyed a very good share. We wish all the 16 clubs good luck.”

2015 Telkom Knockout Fan Activities:

. Free placard customisation for fans.

. Telkom fan spotters will go around the field during the first half

to select the five best Unlimited Celebration placards.

. Five winners will receive prizes during half time on the field.

. Winners will each receive a Telkom SIM-Sonke starter pack with

R500 airtime.
