A Shot at the Big Time with The Red Square Dj Knock Out Competition

SOUTH Africa’s young ones are constantly in search of opportunities that

will boost and turn their lives around for the best.

The Red Square Dj Knock Out Competition presents a great life-changing

opportunity to an ordinary youth that fancy him or herself as the next

hottest and biggest DJ.

Fortunes of music DJs have improved a great deal in the last couple of years

and countless young stars aspire to attain or even surpass the success of

stars like Oskido, Dj Zinhle and Black Coffee who have released hit songs

and performed internationally.

Red Square’s DJ Knock Out Challenge plays a key role in empowering talented

up-coming DJs to claim their share of the spotlight and the fortunes that

come with it.

Since its inception in 2007, winners include Dj Shimza, Dj Lite, Dj Khomza

and Dj Bhaze whose profiles were given a massive boost by the Knock-Out

The four are now living their dreams, having gone from playing at birthday

parties in their townships to becoming brand names. They are also releasing

hit tunes while collaborating with top name South African DJs.

“I was still growing as a DJ when I won the competition in 2007 and it

pushed me to another level, the level of a recognizable brand. The playing

equipment, that was part of my prize, helped me a great deal to practice and

in hosting my own events,” says DJ Shimza

The Red Square championed project’s primary aim is to offer a platform and

give young DJs a good start in taking and maximizing opportunities in an

economically gainful activity or to improve on what the DJ is already doing.

Most importantly it makes it possible for the young DJs to be self-employed

and or entrepreneurial which are activities that most economists suggest are

the key solutions to South Africa’s high employment rate of its youth.

The 2012 Red Square DJ Knock Out media launch is scheduled for September 28

at Club Bahamas, in KwaThema, Springs, Ekurhuleni
