SOFTBALL action will be galore in Kempton Park when provincial and regional teams battle it out for the annual Gordon Monk Tournament.
The tournament that was won by Eastern Gauteng last year will be staged at Rex Sox Diamonds from Friday until Sunday.
Each province or region will have men and women teams, with others coming with major and reserve teams.
Other participating teams are Limpopo, Eastern Cape, Gauteng North, KwaZulu Natal and the University Sports South Africa (USSA).
Limpopo’s assistant coach Jantjies Seakamela said after finishing third in last year’s edition they are aiming high this year.
“We have prepared well for this tournament and we remain confident to reach the finals. The girls show lot of commitment and composure during the training camp that was held at Seshego diamonds last weekend,” said the confident Seakamela.
The men team that is coach by Derrick Mahapa is expected to rely on the like of Tidima Kekana, Thamaga Maimela, Mogau “Lenyora” Thupudi, lemo Raphasha, Thabang “Kgomo” Letsoalo and Nkomori Chepape.
Limpopo might at one stage play against their former player Vasna “VR6” Molaba who is playing for one of the Gauteng teams.
