THE Absa Premiership clubs in the bottom of the log continued to feel the heat as the struggle to avoid the big drop to the lower division continues.

With less than eight league matches remaining for most of the clubs before the curtain for the 2012/13 season could go down, two Cape Town club, Ajax Cape Town and Chippa United and one Black Leopards of Limpopo are struggling to move away from relegation zone after registering yet another defeats in the past 48 hours.

Bottom of the log side, Chippa lost 2-1 at home to the visiting Golden Arrows this evening at the Phillipi Stadium in Cape Town. The defeat was their second in less than four days after having surrendered another defeat, a 2-0 away to Maritzburg United last Sunday and there is no doubt that the club management who have already fired five coaches in one season have started to press panic buttons as the club is currently hanging on the bottom rock with 16 points from 23 matches.

Ajax who last Friday played to a goalless draw at home against AmaZulu suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Mamelodi Sundowns last night while Black Leopards suffered yet another defeat when they went down 1-0 to Moroka Swallows at home in Polokwane also last night.

The defeat comes three days after the Limpopo side were narrowly beaten 3-2 by SuperSport United on Saturday.

Leopards are lying on the 14th position on the log with 19 points from 23 matches and they are one point ahead of 15th positioned Ajax who has bagged 19 points from 22 matches.

Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs are still topping the league log with 7 points despite playing to a 1-1 draw against Marirzburg United in Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stdium this evening.

Amakhosi  who last Saturday went on a rampage, beating Bloemfontein Celtic 3-0 away are now leading the log with 51 points from 24 matches as opposed to their closest rivals, Orlando Pirates who has 44 points from 23 matches, and then followed by Platinum Stars on third with 42 points from the same number of matches. For the record, Dikwena recorded a run way 1-0 victory over Free State Stars away in Qwa Qwa’s Charles Mopeli Stadium last night.

The rest of mid-week results are:

AmaZulu 1 v Orlando Pirates 1, University of Pretoria 1 v Bloemfontein Celtic 1 and BidVest Wits 0 v SuperSports United 0.
