Ajax to kick-start the Nedbank Cup

AJAX Cape Town will kick-off the 2014 edition of the Nedbank Cup tournament on February 21 against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Athlone Stadium.

The two sides also met at this stage of the competition last season at the same venue.

The 2014 Nedbank Cup last 32 fixtures, venues and dates were confirmed by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) earlier this week.

On the same day (February 21, East London-based Second Division side FC Buffalo will entertain FC Cape Town at the Jan Smuts Stadium in East London. Kick-off for both matches is at 8pm.

On February 22, University of Pretoria will welcome 2012/13 finalists SuperSport United in the much-anticipated Tshwane Derby at the Tuks Stadium while Thanda Royal Zulu host top tier giants Orlando Pirates at the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay.

Defending champions Kaizer Chiefs will kick-off their defense with a trip to Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium, Limpopo where they will face NFD outfit Black Leopards on February 23.

Also on the same day, North West-based United FC will look to continue their impressive Nedbank Cup record when they play AmaZulu at the Olympia Stadium in Rustenburg.

The round of 32 will conclude on February 26 with two matches: University of Stellenbosch vs Bloemfontein Celtic and Santos FC vs Gamalakhe United.
