Another coach bite the dust as Malabela fires Ferreira


JOHNNY Ferreira became the third coach to be axed by the Giyani-based National First Division Dynamos since the beginning of this season.

Ferreira was fired after he failed to achieve his performance agreement of collecting 22 points by the end of the second round.

Instead Ferreira has managed to collect 14 points with two matches left in the second round.

They still have to play Black Leopards and Batau in the last matches of the second round. Ferreira was fired on Sunday a day after the Dynamites were walloped 5-0 by FC AK.

Dynamos’ spokesperson Joe Mbiza confirmed that Ferreira was fired on Sunday.

“We have agreed to part ways because we had a performance agreement which Johnny failed to achieve. We have appointed assistant coach Allan Freeze as care-taker coach until we find a substitute. We are confident to do well under Allan’s guidance,” said Mbiza.

The Giyani-based side are sixth on the log with 14 points from 12 matches, after they were defeated 5-0 by FC AK on Saturday.

Freeze’s first assignment is will be on Saturday when Dynamos clash with rivals Black Leopards at Giyani stadium, Dynamos were defeated 3-0 by Leopards in the first round at Tshifulanani stadium.

Ferreira also confirmed that he was fired on Sunday and that the club management should have been disappointed by the FC AK defeat.

“I am also disappointed by the defeat. I have tried my level best to achieve the agreement but I failed to do so. I will wait and see for the next move,” said Ferreira.

Other coaches who were fired by the Pat Malabela-owned side are two Zimbabweans Shepherd Murape and Phillip Mbofane.

Ferreira’s axing brought to seven the number of coaches who have been fired since the beginning of the season in the National First Division.

Other coaches are Zoran Pesic and David Vilakazi who were chopped by struggling Batau including Sammy Troughton who was shown an early exit by Nathi Lions and Ashwin Sutton who was axed by African Warriors.
