GOLDEN Arrows picked the biggest surprised of the season when they ruined Platinum Stars’ chances of

finishing in the top eight brackets

This after the KwaZulu-Natal side went on a goal-spree, beating Dikwena 4-1 at the Royal Bafokeng

Stadium to close the gap between themselves and fellow relegation candidates Free State Stars and

Polokwane City.

Despite their biggest win, Arrows are still on the bottom of the log with 18 points from 27 league

matches and this outcome is a major boost for them as they stand an outside chance of avoiding the

straight chop to the cash stripped National First Division.

Arrows took the lead in the 34th minutes from a penalty kick spot via Thandoyisi Khuboni. This was after

the middle-man adjudged that Thabang Hadebe tackled Philani Shange in the danger box…Khubone

stepped forward an converted beautifully.

Arrow’s joy however did not live for long as Stars levelled the matters few minutes before the second half

via Siphelele Mthembu but that did not bother Abafana be’Sthende as they regrouped quickly and scored

the second goal via Festus Mbewe in the dying minutes of the first half to make it 2-1 at break.

Arrows continued where they left in the second half and scored their third goal in the 55th minutes via

Rudolf Bester before before Bongani Ntuli could hammer the last nail on top of Dikwena’s coffin in the

65th minute.

The results should serve as a wake-up call to both Free State Stars and Polokwane City that it is not over

until the fat lady sings.

In the other league matches played today, SuperSport United played to a goalless draw at the Lucas

Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville with Maritzburg United having beaten Ajax Cape Town 2-0 at the Cape

Town Stadium last night.
