BAROKA FC enhance their chances of avoiding relegation with a grab and smash 1-0 away victory over the dislocated Kaizer Chiefs.
The victory away at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night saw the Limpopo side move one step on the log from the 15th to the 14th position on the Absa Premiership log, much to the little relief from their relegation blues.
With Chippa United having won their match last night after a 1-0 victory over AmaZulu to occupy the 13th spot on the log with 24 points, Baroka know very well that they are still facing the danger of finding themselves playing in the tiring Promotion/Relegation Play-offs if not a straight relegation should they not pull their socks in their remaining five matches. Bakgaga ba Ga-Mphahlele have accumulated 24 points, same as Free State Stars and they have a better goal difference (-8) as opposed to Ea Lla Koto’s -13 who are on the 15th position.
Only one goal difference is separating Baroka and the Chilly Boys who are on -7 and it remain to be seen as to what will happen in their next matches.
Elsewhere, Orlando Pirates moved to the top of the log scoring a heart-stopping winning goal at referee’s optional time, beating title league contenders BidVest Wits 1-0.
Only a goal difference is separating the Sea Robbers who are on top of the log with 44 points, same as Mamelodi Sundowns earlier beat AL Ahly of Egypt in the CAF Champions League match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
Meanwhile Cape Town City’s league title chase ambitions were delayed by Golden Arrows who took them by surprise with a 1-0 victory. City however remain fourth on the log with 40 points, and they are one point behind third place, Wits.
