LIMPOPO’s newly promoted Premiership side, Baroka kept their cup competition’s fairy-tale going, and this time with a 3-1 victory over Platinum Stars in their first-ever Telkom Knockout campaign, WRITES NAKAMPE LEKWADU.
The victory yesterday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium inLimpopo’s capital city, Polokwane saw the Ga-Mphahlele based side join seven other clubs in the quarterfinals of the competition.
Elsewhere Orlando Pirates beat the visiting Golden Arrows 2-1 in a fast flowing match played at the Orlando Stadium.
Both Baroka and Pirates have since joined Cape Town City, Free State Stars, Highlands Park, Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United in the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout.
The eight club will be decided this coming Thursday after the match involving the newly crowned CAF Champions League champs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City. The two sides meet at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville under the floodlights.
The Premiership has confirmed that the quarter-finals draw will shortly conducted after that match.
