THE 2011 edition of Metropolitan Cosafa Under-20 Youth Championships kicked-off at the University of Botswana with the host nation failing to register a victory.
This after the Young Zebras were held to a goalless draw by the equally strength Mozambique who are teamed against them together with Swaziland in Group A .
Initially Botswana were supposed to play Comoros in the opening match, but the Islanders failed to make their way to Botswana, citing poor weather in that country as the reason for their failure to honour this year’s competition which marks its fifth year.
Playing in front of a capacity crowd, Botswana who had earlier on gave through their coach, Odirile “China” Matlhaku gave an excuse of school’s final year examinations to have contributed for poor preparations, produced an outstanding performance in the second half of this encounter, but only it was not their day as their strikers were always fumbling in front of goals.
Botswana has four draws break and their next match will be against Swaziland on December 6 at Molepolole Stadium.
In another match played today, Malawi beat Seychelles 2-0 in the opening match of Group B.
