CAPE Town Roses striker Leandra Smeda netted a hat-trick to keep the Western Cape
provincial champions at the top of the Group B standings at the Sasol League
National Championships in Mangaung, Bloemfontein today.
Smeda, who joined Cape Town Roses in the second half of the Sasol League season
after a transfer from Ambassadors in Sport FC, led the goal charge, with Banyana
Banyana midfielder Nocawe Skiti also getting on the score sheet in a 4-1 win over
Eastern Cape representatives Coastal United.
“Smeda missed all but the last two games of the second half of the season because of
injury and it is now that she is starting to show the typical Smeda form that she is
known for,” said Cape Town Roses coach Xolile Madikane afterwards.
Mpumalanga-based Detroit Ladies got back on to the winning trail with a 2-1 win over
Durban Ladies. Phindile Kabini scored both goals for the inaugural 2009 Sasol League
National Champions. This confidence boosting performance was just what Detroit

each as Palace Super Falcons took their 100 percent winning record to four games in

But there was no joy for hosts Bloemfontein Celtics whose hopes of a semi-final spot
took a knock as they went down 2-1 to Brazilian Ladies FC from Limpopo.
