CHIPPA United FC is excited to finally kick-off their season in the Absa-Premiership League in what promises to be an exciting encounter with Mamelodi Sundowns FC.
Being incepted in the PSL was not only unprecedented but has meant a change at the club. The brand has undergone a revamp, with the club revealing a new club logo, technical sponsor and sporting a new home ground.
The club was founded in January 2010 by Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi; a former security guard who had a dream and started his own company, and Chippa United FC as a result of the success of the holdings company.
“We are very happy about the new look of the club, the design of the logo and the team improvements in total. The club is moving towards a more commercial and positive direction, even though there’s always room for improvement. The team’s new home ground is yet to be unveiled and we can’t wait to announce it to the general public. The club will always feel indebted to the Phillipi community as they supported us through our adversities and triumphs when the stadium was still our home ground but we will be taking matches there as soon as we get PSL approval regarding the standards we are required to meet,” says the General Manager of the club, Wanda Mbenguzana.
Chippa have entered into an agreement with Kappa to supply the clubs merchandise and playing kit as they enter the 2012-13 campaign.
Kappa is the sportswear brand dedicated to active and dynamic people who want technical and functional clothing with a modern, engaging and colourful style. They supply kits for a number of leading clubs across Europe and the rest of the world including teams in the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Eredivisie, Ligue as well as our very own PSL.As part of the agreement, Kappa will also supply Chippa United FC players and coaching staff with training wear items, as well as various other leisurewear which will be available to purchase across all leading retailers countrywide.
This new relationship is an exciting one for both parties as Chippa United enter their very first season in South Africa’s top flight league. “This is a tremendous opportunity for Chippa United and Kappa to work together closely and we are looking forward to both these brands growing together throughout the South African market.”- Ricky Joseph, Brand Manager, Kappa South Africa)
