The Hilton Sandton, conveniently located in the heart of the Sandton CBD is the official hotel for the Dutch National Football team during the World Cup.
My colleague and I had the opportunity to stay at the Hilton Sandton to experience for ourselves why the team had chosen the Hilton Sandton as their base camp. With 329 luxurious rooms, 9 meeting rooms, a ballroom, business centre, Sushi and Teppanyaki Bar, swimming pool and gym, it was not difficult to see why the team had chosen this establishment, the hotel is well equipped to welcome the team next week.
Sharing his thoughts with the Sports Focus crew, Axel Hauser the general manager at the Hilton Sandton who originates from Germany said, “The World Cup is an opportunity to showcase what South Africa has to offer and to introduce the world to the warm hospitality of the South African people.”
Asked why the Dutch National Football team chose the Hilton Sandton as their base camp, Hauser said: “The Hilton brand has come to represent a quality and a standard that is internationally upheld. International travellers like the Dutch National Football team look for a brand like the Hilton when considering overseas travel as they will be assured of a comfortable, enjoyable and professional experience.”
The Hilton Sandton is well prepared for the teams arrival in June and asked how the hotel will cope with the odd demands of the guests staying at the hotel during the World Cup, Hauser said,” The Hilton Sandton is very proud to have been identified as one of the official hotels by the 2010 World Cup organising committee. It is all systems go and whatever our guests require, we will do our best to accommodate them. Taking care of a guests needs and their well being is my main priority.”
The Hilton Sandton is a decadent way to experience the glittering City of Gold and its ambience. In the words of a friendly receptionist, “Having tried the rest, try the best.”
