Coca-Cola Khaya Majoja week gains momentum

THE Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week gained yet another momentum today when some clubs registered some deserving victories in their first matches in the Day 3 of this week long under-19 cricket competition here.

The biggest winner in the first matches on the day was Boland who beat Easterns by 10 wickets.

The scoreboard at the end of the two sides’ match read 107/0 for Boland as opposed to Easterns’ 104/6. Boland’ Hanno Kotze and Bjoon Fortune who lasted in the first whistle from the word go through to the end of the match were on top of their games as they single-handedly their opponents’ downfall, scoring 67 and 31 respectively.

Closer to Boland’s biggest win with 9 wickets victory was Border who stamped their authority over Griqualand West with 67/1 to 65 all out with Mpumalanga beating Northerns with 7 wickets (142/3) victory over their opponents who scored 141 all out.

The rest of Day 3’s first matches results are:

Eastern Province 153/5 (Osborne 58, Bopp 24, Ngwenya 3/36) and Limpopo 119/3 (Koekemoer 65*).

Eastern Province won by 34 runs

Gauteng 173/7 (Dial 86, Valli 25; Pretorius 3/28)

North West 159/9 (Viljoen 63, Modise 35; Valli 4/30, Radaba 3/26)

Gauteng won by 14 runs

KZN 156/6 (Trenoweth 50, Zondo 34; Orros 3/19, Ntshona 2/26

Free State 145/9 (Ntshona 27, van Dyk 34*; Schlemmer 3/23, Makhanya 3/31)

KZN won by 11 runs

Western Province 155/5 (van der Berg 71; Pieters 2/22, Moolman 2/27)
