THE Absa Premiership’s defending champions, SuperSport United are facing an uphill battle this evening when they welcome Ajax Cape Town. Kick-Off in Atteridgeville’s Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium is 7.30pm.

United, the three times league champions who has so far collected six points out of the possible 12 from four matches need nothing else but a win in this evening’s clash if they are serious about retaining their league title.

It is not a secret that Gavin Hunt and his troops are very much aware of the tough match ahead of them against the visiting Ajax who have been doing well and their unbeaten run in four matches which saw them win three and drawing one speak volume.

With a deserving 1-0 victory away to AmaZulu, Matsatsa A Pitori will be looking forward to use their home ground advantage to bring the Urban Warriors’ good run to a screetching halt.

This a head to head terms, Ajax and SuperSport have met 22 times in the league since the 1999/2000 season which saw the Tshwane-based side win ten time as opposed to the Cape side’ seven victories while the other five mathes ended in draws.

The latest statistics however gives Ajax the upper hand after winning one of their two outings last season with the other match ended in a draw, and it remain to be seen if they will continue where they left last season.
