Bidvest Wits FC winger Bhongolethu Jayiya gave thanks to Roger De Sa and his team-mates for helping him realise his dream of playing professional football. The 20-year old received the Player of the Month trophy for his performances in February.
“I have to thank the coach for giving me a chance, and the players too. Without them I would not be here. Playing in the PSL was a dream for me and I am happy that I am here now,” the Soweto youngster said.
“It’s an overwhelming feeling. I was and still am working hard and I am very pleased with this. I did not expect it but I am very happy. This award is for the team because without them I would not have this, so it’s all about team work,” the former Super Spurs (an amateur team in Dlamini) player said.
“My coach especially has been great. He motivates me, gives me good advice, and so is guys like Stiga, Thando and Mark Haskins who are always encouraging me too. So I am with very good guys who are boosting me and it’s just great being there.”
Jayiya says he would like to see the Clever Boys finish in fourth place this season. They have 33 points and are sixth on the log, 13 points behind fourth placed Kaizer Chiefs.
“I would really like it if we finish off in fourth place. It is possible and if we play at our best then we will do it. That is my goal for us. I don’t have personal goals as such. As long as I work hard and contribute to our success then I am happy. Everything else is a bonus including this award.”-PSL
