IT is yet another exciting time for the country’s golfers to witness some of the best and greatest sports start showing their skill in the Sunshine Tour under the sunny joburg skies.

The tournament which marks its six year running is prove to be growing strong yearly with some of the best golfers showing their interest and skill within the greens and fairways, aperture day which only hopes  to be thrilling and exciting .

Fans packed to witness the great king Charl Schwartzel who won the tournament in succession 2010/2011 and took home more than R1,8 million

Damien McGrane leader the 2012 joburg open championship Played beautiful from on the onset of the tournament as it open up opportunities, the course tomorrow will be more difficult as the weather keeps changing however we had greens are fantastic and if you’re on role there will be birdies up for grabs, I enjoyed making birdies chances along with a few putts in the 15 had the superb chip.

Irish born golfers have continued   shinning in the world for the last three or four years its been incredible as we offer support and feed off each other a little and for a small nation’s great to be there or thereabouts, after winning in China in 2008 Darren Clarke also won following week and then Peter Lowry won the following week every often we have our own good spell, and we are just waiting for it to happen again.

Damien used every club in the bag as the course is very long and played all the clubs to make the best of the situation-I hit plenty of fairways and holed some nice putts for birdie, I just bogeyed the last after missing the fairway off tee, and that was disappointing, apart from that it was pretty good round of golf.

Golf is always tough I think all of the players are making the best of the situation, however the course played today is three shots easier than the East course needless to say that there should be good scores at the west course again tomorrow it is an unusual format to play 36 holes over two courses, and I think sometimes people struggle other times it’s a birdies fest you just have to take the rough with the smooth.

The competition’s opening day was however partially suspended due to some down pouring that has hit most part of Johannesburg areas recently.
