Khumalo requires knee operation after injury






 

 

 

BAFANA Bafana defender Bongani Khumalo is expected to be out of action for an unspecified period of time following a knee injury sustained in the 5-0 loss to Brazil in an international friendly match played on Wednesday at FNB Stadium.

The former Bafana Bafana skipper will undergo a knee operation yesterday.

According to the medical report, Khumalo ruptured his patella tendon in the first half of the match against Brazil and was replaced by Siyanda Xulu.

The England-based Doncaster Rovers player landed awkwardly in the 19th minute, dislocating his knee cap.

After he was assessed by the Bafana Bafana medical team he was taken to hospital immediately and spent the night there. He is expected to be discharged on Friday. (8 March).
It is not clear how long he will be out of action.
