THREE times Absa Premiership champions SuperSport United are seems to be reviving their glory days after they joined rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns on top of the league log.
This after Matsatsantsa A Pitori registered a resounding 3-0 victory over rookies, Black Leopards in a one-sided league match played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville outside Tshwane last night.
Atusaye Nyondo scored a brace with Morgan Gould sealing the Tshwane- based’s victory with another goal that saw the Gavin Hunt’s coached side bagging the maximum point which saw them moved to the second position with 10 points, behind Sundowns who are topping the log with the same number of points.
This was United’s third victory in four league matches while the other one ended in a draw, and they are trailing behind the Brazilians with a goal difference (two goals). For the record, the Sundowns maintained their top spot on the log after winning the five goals thriller against BidVest Wits University whom they beat 3-2 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit last night.
Ironically, the two Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs and the league’s defending champions, Orlando Pirates are positioned third and fourth respectively with nine points each.
Chiefs are hanging on to the third place despite losing 2-1 away to Ajax Cape Town at the Cape Town stadium this evening while Pirates narrowly beat Santos 1-0 this evening at the Orlando Stadium, a courtesy goal of Ndumiso Mabena .
