The purpose of this unique 2-day project (having kicked off yesterday by the Premier Nomvula Mokonyane)is to transverse Gauteng, experiencing some of the best tourism offerings whilst searching for the clues that will see contestants crowned winner of Amazing Place Gauteng when the race winds up today.
Described as the melting pot for economy and the gate-way to Africa and the world, Gauteng Province leads when it comes to implementing chic and though-provoking initiatives which has the backing of Provincial Government and Gauteng Tourism, who are the founders of the concept.  

During the send-off at Constitutional Hill after leading the entourage through Women’s Jail the to locate their first clue Premier said: “We are justifiably proud of the work done by the Gauteng Tourism Authority and indeed the whole province in turning Gauteng into a real destination during the 2010 FIFA World Cup,” she said.

“We’re now stepping up the action with this unique ‘race’ that highlights Gauteng’s tourism routes both to outsiders and residents within the province.”

Teams are made up of Uyanda Mbuli Executive Manager Communications, Department of Economic Development; teamed with singer, songwriter and record label Phinda Matlala; recording artist Selaelo Selota teamed up with model Cwaita Mtose; house music vocalist Lelethu Nkulu with radio broadcaster George Monetsi (Kaya FM) and Jam Alley host Thato ‘T’do’ Mahlatsi with hotshot musician, Malik
Immediately, they had to be chauffeured in Chevrolet Captiva, and speed off to Rondebult Bird Sanctuary in Germiston, Ekurhuleni where the teams had to search for more clues in the 94-hectare marshland area that’s home to 150 bird species.

The last stretch of Day One of Amazing Place Gauteng saw the teams call in at the Vaalnest Boutique Hotel where all four teams were treated to the kind of top-end tourism experience that makes the Vaal such a popular destination in the province!
With an overnight stop at the Maropeng Hotel in the Cradle of Humankind, Day-Two began with a flight in a hot air balloon that saw the teams exploring the Cradle of Humankind from above – after which the four teams again don their racing and thinking caps as they explore the “amazing place” that is Gauteng!

The television series will be broadcast on DSTV bouquet channels (Mzansi Magic, Africa Magic and Africa Magic Plus) and SABC early November.

Know your province, know your city: the Amazing Place Gauteng reality TV show will be presented by the legend himself Kgomotso Bob Mabena Kaya fm’s presenter.
