BLACK Leopards go into their first game of the promotion-relegation offs on Sunday with an underlying objective: to reclaim their spot as top dogs in the Limpopo.
Lidoda Duvha kick off what they hope will ultimately be a successful promotion campaign when they host Milano United at the Giyani Stadium today afternoon, 3pm kick off.
It will be Milano’s second game of the play-offs, the Cape side having one point in the bag after their 0-0 draw with Polokwane City at the Athlone Stadium on Wednesday.
Leopards are now determined to put themselves in pole position by taking all three points on Sunday as they look to fire themselves back into the top flight after a one season absence.
“We are confident that we can come back to the PSL. That has remained our objective and we are still on course to do that,” club spokesman Berry Ramunenyiwa told PSL.co.za.
“Unfortunately after the play-offs there may only be one team from the Limpopo in the PSL, and we want to make sure it is us. We have always been the top club in the province and we want to reclaim our position in the Absa Premiership.”
To get off to the perfect start they are hoping for, Leopards must find a way to get the better a Milano United side that beat them 2-0 down in Cape Town just two weekends ago. And they must do it without their top goal-scorer David Zulu, who remains sidelined with injury.
“That defeat to Milano was actually a blessing in disguise.,” Ramunenyiwa claimed, “because that loss came as a wake-up call and helped us to get our focus back.
“We know now exactly what to expect from Milano and what to look out for. The Leopards players know what is at stake and we will also push it into their minds that they beat Milano 2-1 when we played them at home in the first round.
“Yes we will miss David Zulu again, although we are hopeful he may still recover in time to feature in the play-offs. But we have players who can step up for us, the players are motivated and the team spirit is great ahead of our first match.”-www.psl.co.za
