Limpopo to Spend Mandela Day at Polokwane Place of Safety

NMF-MandelaDay-Logo-REV-Slogan-Colour_730_550_70_s_c1NELSON Mandela International Day (or Mandela Day) is an annual international day in honour of the former President Nelson Mandela, celebrated each year on 18 July, Mandela’s birthday. The day was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009, with the first UN Mandela Day held on 18 July 2010. However, other groups began celebrating Mandela Day on 18 July 2009.

Limpopo Tourism Agency will be celebrating Mandela day on July 17 at the Polokwane Welfare Complex, Mandela Drive from 9am.

Polokwane Welfare Complex is a community-based organisation (CBO). They provide a residential facility caring for children and youth. They provide support to orphans or other vulnerable children, ensuring that they have shelter, clothing, food and that their other basic need are met during their stay. Children in their care range in age from birth to 18 years old. They also offer a temporary place of safety for 90 days while social workers are investigating certain cases.

LTA staff members will donate cloths and clean the centre for the day, you media house is hereby invited to cover the event.
