THE National First Division (NFD)’s Limpopo Derby between Black Leopards and Baroka FC failed to produce goals, Writes NAKAMPE LEKWADU.
Victory for Baroka in this match which was played at the packed Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon could have seen them stretched their lead on the log with six points.
Up the Bakgaga nevertheless are still on top of the NFD’s 16-clubs with 39 points after 18 league matches, and their closest rivals are Witbank Spurs on second with 35 points after the Emalahleni based side managed an away 3-1 victory over African Warriors at the Charles Mopeli in Qwa Qwa.
As for Lidoda Duvha, the draw is another setback as it could not helped them move from their 9th position on the log where they are comfortably sitting with 26 points.
The draw was the replica of their first round clash on October 4 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium which also ended in goalless.
In the other NFD league matches played yesterday, FC Cape Town beat Vasco da Gama 3-1 in the Cape Derby played at the NNK Rugby Stadium while Highlands Park were held to a 2-2 draw by the visiting Mbombela United at the Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa. In KwaZulu-Natal, Royal Eagles pushed Moroka Swallows deeper into the relegation zone when they beat them 3-2.
