MTN 8 provide fans with another Soweto derby

KAIZER Chiefs and Orlando Pirates’ crazy fans can brace themselves for another two derby matches between their favourites clubs in the form of the MTN 8 semi-finals.

This after the two Soweto giants were drew each other during the draw which was conducted at the Premier Soccer League’s Parktown office yesterday

With Wafa Wafa Cup’ semi-final matches being played in a two legged version (home and away), fans can brace themselves for an explosive and action galore matches.

Both Chiefs and Pirates have already played each other recently (July 27) during the pre-season tournament, the Carling Black Label which saw they mighty Amakhosi lifting their first title in three years after a controversial goal that separated the two sides.

Chiefs earned their passage through to the semi-finals of the MTN 8 after their 3-0 triumph over Tuks on Saturday night while Pirates struggled to a 2-2 draw against SuperSport United before they could emerge 4-3 winners after penalties.

In another semi-final match, BidVest Wits will take on Platinum Stars. Wits booted out Bloemfontein Celtic out of the competition with a 3-0 drubbing while Stars edged out Free State Stars with the same margin of goals.

Organisers are still to confirm dates and venues of the semi-final matches in due course.
