Vodacom league side Baroka FC will host NFD club Black Leopards at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Sunday in what is the battle of Limpopo in a Nedbank Cup semi-final fixture.
Khunadi Nkoane is hoping his team can make history and reach the final of the Nedank Cup by beating their bigger brothers in a rare derby match.
“I want to play in the Nedbank Cup final, hopefully against Orlando Pirates, said the popular number 10.
“For most of the guys in the team it has been our goal from the beginning to reach this stage and we want to make sure that we give it our all and show the people of Limpopo what we are capable of.”
The young striker mentioned the importance of not underestimating a Lidhoda Duvha side that has done fairly well in the National First Division. Among other things the striker challenged his teammates to continue with the same attitude that got them this far and not to think too highly of themselves.
“We have done well to get this far, but the hard work is not done. The guys in the team must understand that we still have two games left to lift the trophy. We are playing a side that has done well in the NFD and has a lot of experience so we must not take them lightly as they might surprise us.” said the 19 year old.
Despite all the attention he has received from teams campaigning in the PSL, Nkoane insists that helping Baroka reach the NFD and the Nedbank Cup final is still his number one priority at the moment.
“It has been a hectic couple of weeks. My phone has been ringing none stop,” he says with a smile.”But gaining promotion to “Mvela” and winning the Nedbank Cup is what I’m focused on right now. Everything else we will see once the playoffs in Cape Town are done.” Nkoane concluded.-PSL Website
