Swallows striker Siyabonga Nomvethe admits that the Birds will need to show a vast improvement after their 4-1 loss to Jomo Cosmos on Sunday.
The result of the promotion-relegation play-off clash at the Vaal University of Technology sees Cosmos move to the top of the mini-table on goal difference, with Swallows and Black Leopards also both having won one and lost one of their two matches to date.
Novethe, who got Swallows’ only goal, was left lamenting what he admitted was a poor showing.
“I am very disappointed with the way we performed,” said the former Bafana Bafana marksman.
“It is very embarrassing to lose with a score line like that considering how we played in our last game. I thought that it would at least be a draw if things didn’t go our way in the game.
Coach Craig Rosslee feels his side adopted the wrong mental approach on the day.
“We came here and thought we couldWIN the game, with the wrong mentality. We had to have the right attitude and mentality. We didn’t have that today and we got punished duly for it.
“The players have to look at themselves. We can’t give away goals likes that. We didn’t respect the game, let alone the opponent,” he said.
The next play-off action takes place on Wednesday, when Cosmos host Black Leopards.-www.psl.co.za
