KAIZER Chiefs’ on-form star, Bernard Parker is expected to increase his league goals tally tomorrow night when his side takes on rookies, Chippa United at the FNB Stadium. Kick-Off is 8.15pm
Being the first player to score four goals in the league in the new season feels good but Parker said he is not resting on his laurels.
“I will not rest even if I score four goals more in one match again. Every player wants to do well and I must keep improving. The chances of cementing my place in the national team are high if I keep on working hard at club level,” said Parker who has seven league goals under his belt by far.
But the immediate priority is helping Amakhosi win the Absa Premiership title which has
eluded them since 2005\06 season.
With the visiting United having not playing bad since their arrival in the elite league, drawing twice and losing the same number and only lost once, however Parker and company have been at their best and are expected to win this one with a bigger margin.
The 26 year old has found the back of the net in three of the first five fixtures and attributes his rich vein of form to hard work. He says that the coach, Stuart Baxter and his team-mates believe in his ability and that he is enjoying his game.
I’m currently enjoying my game and I hope with the hard work I am putting in at training I will continue with this form. One thing you should know is that we play as a team and that is why we are doing well, and almost everyone can score.
Chiefs players are all hungry for success and trophies and the league is the priority. We want it most. This is a marathon and in such a race you need endurance and patience. We will take it one game at a time. We know it won’t be easy but we have to keep on fighting until the end. We want the league, “he concluded.
