Pirates accepts apology after Rosslee pleaded gulty

ORLANDO Pirates Football Club has completed its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr Craig Rosslee’s reckless and baseless comments regarding the internal affairs of the club published in “Kick Off” and “Laduma” on June 28 and 29 while contracted to the club.

Pirates affords all employees every opportunity to raise grievances internally including providing a formal process that can be used for that purpose.  In addition Mr Rosslee met with the Chairman of Orlando Pirates Football Club to discuss his future almost immediately before these comments were made and no grievance or concern, at all, was raised by Mr Rosslee at this meeting.

Despite this Mr Rosslee took it upon himself to make the harmful and defamatory comments he did regarding the internal affairs of the club while still employed by Orlando Pirates Football Club and where he had not bothered to follow his rights in terms of his contract or mention the concerns he felt were worth publicising.

Mr Rosslee has accepted, at a Disciplinary Hearing held yesterday that he acted incorrectly and pleaded guilty to charges brought against him. Mr Rosslee admitted to having participated in these interviews. He emphasised, “the articles were supposed to highlight my achievements at Orlando Pirates and were not meant to appear to be controversial about the club!. The articles were written in bad taste and I feel I have been misguided and mislead into giving these interviews where often my words were twisted.” He further apologised to Orlando Pirates Football Club.

Orlando Pirates Football Club is satisfied that the misrepresentation by Mr Rosslee in the two publications has been corrected. Orlando Pirates Football Club is however required both in terms of the Code of Ethics and Rules of the League (in particular Rule 52.2.10) to refer alleged misconduct to the PSL. The matter has therefore been accordingly referred to the Premier Soccer League
