POLOKWANE City registered their first Absa Premiership victory in six matches when they beat equally troubled Ajax Cape Town 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo yesterday.
Siphesihle Nzimande and Thapelo Tshilo scored in each half to make sure that the Limpopo side taste their first sweet victory while moving away from the bottom of the log to one pace up. The win comes after they had lost their first five league matches in a row.
The win for Arise and Shine as the Limpopo based side is fondly known among their fans comes hardly less than a week after the club parted ways with their coach, Duncan Lechesa and should serve as a motivation ahead of their next match away to BidVest Wits this coming Wednesday at the BidVest Stadium under the floodlights.
In some other interesting results Pretoria University brushed aside Golden Arrows with 2 goals to nill to move to the 10th position on the log.
Meanwhile SuperSport United forced a 1-1 draw away to AmaZulu to maintain their top position on the log with 11 points. Matsatsantsa A Pitori are however not comfortably sitting on the top as they are on the same level on points with their closest rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and three more sides in Moroka Swallows, AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs who have also bagged 11 points each.
In total, 14 league goals were scored in this past weekend however with no club winning by more than three goals just like last weekend.
The rest of the results are: Kaizer Chiefs 2 v Platinum Stars 1, AmaZulu 1 v SuperSport United 1, Mamelodi Sundowns 2 v BidVest Wits 1 and Moroka Swallows 1 v Maritzburg United 1
