Polokwane City Rovers top prove their worth in the Nedbank Cup

WITH a name like Polokwane41d92c1cd2d76bbb536eebb955fac458_400x400 City Rovers you might expect this ABC Motsepe League side to hail from the Limpopo province but instead they are based in Mogwase in the North West.

That is because owner and chairman, Tlou Temo is originally from Polokwane and says he already had a company registered by the name of Polokwane City Rovers.

“We are settled in the North West but I must admit that my dream is one day to take this team ‘home’ to Limpopo,” Temo says.

The team is coached by Modise Moloto, who was once on the books of Orlando Pirates but did not feature for the first team.

He is driving the club forward in the North West ABC Motsepe League where the team has made a good start to the season and are vying for promotion.

Among their more well known players are former Baroka FC midfielder Brian Kgafane, who also had a season in the Premier Soccer League with Vasco da Gama.

The team plays their home matches in blue and white “like Chelsea”, according to Temo, and welcome teams at the Mogwase Stadium just outside of Rustenburg.

“We are very excited to play in the Nedbank Cup Last 32, this is an opportunity we have been waiting for to showcase the quality we have in our team,” Temo says.
