Riëtte Laas is the General Manager at Langebaan Country Estate (LCE) – a 450ha eco estate offering a wide range of leisure, business and lifestyle opportunities in the heart of Langebaan. In her capacity as General Manager Laas oversees all golfing, sports, conferencing, events, food and beverage as well as the accommodation aspects of the business and manages a team of over 70 individuals.
Laas, an avid sports and fitness enthusiast, studied Biokinetics as well as Sport and Exercise Technology at the University of Pretoria; having received a scholarship for the latter through hockey. Laas represented South Africa in field hockey, unfortunately an injury shortly thereafter led her to retire and immigrate to the United Kingdom.
In the UK, Laas completed a chef course and went to work at Silvermere Golf Complex, Surrey as a chef, fulfilling a culinary passion that she has. While working at the golf course Laas started playing golf more seriously.
On return to South Africa Laas continued working in a similar industry and became Food and Beverage Manager at Woodhill Country Club, moving on to Golf Director at Pecanwood Golf Estate where she completed her PGA accreditation. After running her own business for a few years Laas moved to Langebaan Country Estate where she brought her vast skills in the hospitality and golf industries to become General Manager.
