The South African Football Association (SAFA) will make a final presentation to CAF in a bid to host the 2015 African Cup of Nations. The SAFA delegation led by President Kirsten Nematandani will make the final plea during a 45 minutes allocated slot on Saturday morning in Lubumbashi (Democratic Republic of Congo). The CAF executive will announce the host countries for the 2015 and 2017 AFCON tournaments respectively on Saturday 29 January 2011 after presentations by the bidding National Football Associations.
President Nematandani will be accompanied by SAFA Vice President Dr Danny Jordaan and Chief Executive officer Leslie Sedibe. The SAFA delegation will take the CAF executive committee through a comprehensive presentation on South Africa’s state of readiness for the 2015 AFCON finals.
President Nematandani says SAFA is cautiously optimistic about Saturday’s announcement. “We have worked very hard regarding our bid documents; and I’m particularly impressed by the vigilance and dedication shown by our team throughout the bidding process. There was no room for complacency, and that is a hallmark of the professionalism of our country’s bid. I wish all the bidding countries good luck, and it will be up to the winning host nations to deliver the best AFCON tournaments in years to come”.
