The South African Football Supporters’ Association (SAFSA) has welcomed with a great deal of delight and support the recently launched Magnificent Fridays, a joint initiative driven by the Ministers of Sport and Recreation and Arts and Culture, Mr Fikile Mbalula and Paul Mashatile.
“At its meeting held at SAFA House on Thursday 20 January, the Executive Committee of SAFSA has welcomed with a high anticipation, the innovative Magnificent Fridays. SAFSA holds a strong view that the legacy of 2010, will not live by itself, it requires South Africans to unite and work together to preserve this unprecedented national achievement” said SAFSA’s Executive Director, Siyabulela Makunga.
“SAFSA would like to urge all its members and South Africans at large to rally behind the campaign in manner that far exceeds the spirit of the 2010 FIFA World Cup” Makunga added.
The SAFSA will be meeting the Minister of Sports and Recreation on Wednesday 26 January 2011 to seek for the Department’s support on strengthening the role of football supporters in the transformation and development of football.
“We will obvious propose to the Minister our envisaged role in making the Magnificent Fridays a resounding success” Makunga concluded.
