THERE was a flood of goals during Tuesday night’s Absa Premiership matches that saw the total of 12
goals scored in three matches.
The match that produced the highest goals was that one involving Moroka Swallows and Polokwane City
at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto which saw the Dube Birds won the five goals thriller 3-2.
Lerato Chabangu scored a brace with Vuyisile Wana scoring the other goal while City’s two goals were
scored by Puleng Tlolane and Thapelo Tshilo.
In Cape Town, Nathan Paulse registered a brace with Keagan scoring the other goals as Ajax Cape Town
beat the visiting BidVest Wits 3-1 while Sthembiso Ncgobo scored Wits’ consolation goal. The victory saw
the Urban Warriors ousted Kaizer Chiefs on top of the log with 10 points from four matches.
At Harry Gwala Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal Maritzburg United handed the visiting Chippa United a 3-0
drubbing with goals scored by Mohammed Anas, Nhlanhla Vilakazi and Sheldon van Wyk.
The league action continues tomorrow night with five more league matches taking place at various
venues across the country with the main focus at the Loftus Stadium where Mamelodi Sundowns welcome
Orlando Pirates while Kaizer Chiefs will be looking forward to retain their top spot at the expense of
Platinum Stars whom they face at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium. The match between the two sides will be
the third time within a short space of three weeks after the two-legged MTN 8 semifinal matches.
The rest of tomorrow’s league matches are: SuperSport United v Black Aces (Peter Mokaba), AmaZulu
v Bloemfontein Celtic (Moses Mabhida) and University of Pretoria v Free State Stars (Tuks). Kick-Off for
all the matches is at 7.30pm.
