HARDLY two days after the news of the passing away of South Africa’s 800m runner Mbulaeni Mulaudzi, another dark cloud is hanging in the country’ sports fraternity, and this time in the football circle after the news about untimely death of Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.
Meyiwa who was at his best during Pirates’ 4-1 victory over Ajax Cape Town during last night’s Telkom Knockout quarterfinal match at the Orlando Stadium has been confirmed to have died from a gunshot in one of Ekurhuleni’s Vosloorus township.
Meyiwa has been at the helm of Bafana’s goalpost in the absence of the injured Itumeleng Khune, and he has played four AFCON qualifying matches where he was still to concede a goal.
Sports Focus send condolences to the Meyiwa family.
