Shange found guilty of to using banned substance

The National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) of SAFA has found Golden Arrows player Philani Shange guilty of using a banned substance (cannabis).

Shange was charged for contravening the regulation in terms of the South African Institute of Drug Free Sport, South African football Association Anti- Doping Regulations, and FIFA Regulations relating to doping. The charges came after he tested positive on the 14th of November 2010 during a fixture between Golden Arrows FC and Mpumalanga Black Aces FC.

In handing down judgment; the NDC took into consideration that Shange had pleaded guilty, that he has shown remorse and that he is a first time offender.

The NDC Fined Shange R12000.00 which is wholly suspended for 2 years, provided he is not found in similar transgression; and he is to attend a Programme which teaches on the dangers of drug abuse and submit a report to SAFA on completion.
