COSAFA hopefuls South Africa and Zimbabwe have been drawn together at the 2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be held in Sudan from February 4-25.
The pair will be in Group B along with 2009 runners-up Ghana and west African side Niger, with the Black Stars side their most likely challengers for a place in the knockout stages
.Another COSAFA side, Angola, have been pooled in Group D along with Senegal, Rwanda and Tunisia.
The 16 competing sides have been drawn into four pools with four teams each, with the top two nations in each pool advancing to the quarterfinals.
In the rest of the draw, defending champions DR Congo were pooled in Group C along with Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire and Mali, a tough line-up that has a look of the ‘Group of Death’ about it. Hosts Sudan will face Gabon, Uganda and Algeria in Group A.
The DR Congo beat Ghana 2-0 in the 2009 final to become the first-ever champions, with many of that side going on to claim back-to-back African Champions League titles with TP Mazembe.-cosafa.com
