Sundowns hoping to claim the top spot

MAMELODI Sundowns has an opportunity of claiming the top spot on the Absa Premiership log for the first time this evening, WRITES SEKABA MAAKE

The Brazilians take on unpredictable Golden Arrows away at the Princess Magogo Stadium, KwaZulu-Natal in a must win league match if they are serious about defending their title. Kick-Off this evening is at 8pm.

The Pitso Mosimane-led troops are currently on the second position on the log with 47 points from 23 matches, and they are two points behind Cape Town City who are topping the log with 49 points from 25 matches.

With another title contenders, BidVest Wits also in action tonight away to relegation threatened Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium also this evening at the same time, Sundowns are aware that a loss to Arrows with the Clever Boys winning their match will mean that they have to wait a little bit longer to realise their dream of moving up to the top of the log. For the record, Wits are lying third on the log with 45 points, two behind Sundowns with the same number of matches after their speed train was brought to an abrupt halt by SuperSport United who beat them 1-0 on Tuesday night.
