Sundowns promises to fight back

MAMELODI Sundowns head coach, Johan Neekens is positive that his charges will be in the final match of the MTN8 come September 10.

Speaking ahead of the club’ return leg of the competition at Loftus Stadium (3pm Kick-Off) where the Brazilians will be welcoming Orlando Pirates, Neekens said they have had enough of beatings from the Soweto giants who lambasted them 3-2 in the first leg of the competition which was played at Orlando Stadium a week ago.

“It is an open secret that Sundowns has been eluded by silver-wares and our cabinet is currently dry, that is the reason we have to win this one so we can proceed to the final match,” pointed Neekens.

About the absence of Pirates striker, Bennie McCarthy who was given his marching orders during Pirates’ 2-1 defeat by Maritzburg United last night, Neekens said they don’t really target their opponents’ individual players but the whole team.

“Bennie is not a big issue in this match, all we want in this match is to avenge our defeat irrespective of which player is there or not. We are a hungry club with hungry fans whom we have an obligation to please them and that is what we are definitely going to do come Sunday,” added Neekens.

Pirates coach Julio Leal on the other hand was positive that they will continue where they left in the first leg.

“It is unfortunate that Benni won’t be playing for our next three matches, but that is not a train smash because we have a strong team and with the likes of Bonganin Ndulula, Tlou Segolela and Oupa Manyisa just to mention few, the sky will be no limit,” said Leal
