The middle-man's decision questionable


LIMPOPO Vodacom League referee Phuti Maholo turned himself into man of the through his questionable decisions during a match between log leaders Baroka FC and Fanang Diatla.
The match was played at Ngoana Mohube sports ground in GaMphahlele on Saturday and Baroka defeated their Fanang Diatla 2-1. Maholo surprised everybody when he flashed two red cards to Baroka players and further gave marching orders to Baroka’ assistant coach and team manager. As if that was not enough Maholo awarded Fanan Diatla two dubious penalties to the disappointment of Baroka supporters who were calmed down the club management from rebelling against referee’s decisions. To made the situation even worse Maholo added 30 minutes in his optional time. Baroka’s spokesperson Jimmy ”JJ” Ngobeni said they were astonished by Maholo’s decision especially at this stage of the league.
”We are disappointed by some of the referees in the league, because it appears that some of them have a negative attitude against. We will write to Safa to highlight our dissatisfaction,” said Ngobeni.
”If this kind of situation repeats itself we will be forced to involve the police. The worst situation on Saturday was when Maholo dRove in the car of the owner of Mighty Tjale whose club was not playing,” added Ngobeni.
Baroka lead the log with 47 points from 17 matches, eight adrift of closest rivals and former National First Division side Winnners Park.
