KAIZER Chiefs will be hoping to bounce back from the recent slump when they host rejuvenated SuperSport United at Soccer City Complex on Saturday night.
Amakhosi have suffered three consecutive defeats despite the team creating a lot of chances and they should fancy their chances of returning back to winning for the first time under the tutelage of head coach, Donald ‘Ace’ Khuse.
Encounters between the two sides have provided a lot of goals and sometimes drama and it won’t be different on Saturday as both teams are still mathematically in a position to win the title.
Football Manager, Bobby Motaung revealed that despite the three consecutive defeats the Management remains behind the Technical Team and the players.
“We remain firmly behind the Technical Team and the players because we know that despite the results not coming they have been giving their best starting in training and during games.
We will keep on supporting them and the match against SuperSport United provides us with an opportunity to turn things around. The players are aware that the pride is at stake on Saturday.
Credit should really go to the team that despite the slump they have continued to play positive football and that is demonstrated by the number of opportunities we have created.
At this stage we are not thinking about the league honours but to win our next game. We have five ‘finals’ to go; the focus is 100% on the first one against SuperSport United,” added Motaung.
Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung echoed the sentiments of the Football Manager; “The team is going through transition and things at times do not work out as quickly as you would want.
I have gone down to the training field a couple of times and both the Technical Team and the players are eager to turn things around for the Executive Chairman, for the supporters and everyone associated with the Club.
Motaung also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the supporters for rallying behind the team; “The team received a rousing welcome from the supporters as they touched down in Cape Town last Saturday afternoon.
This is to the leadership and everyone associated with the Club a clear demonstration that despite the team going through the rough patch the supporters are behind the team and this has been well received by the playing squad. This support inspires them. We are positive that the trend is going to continue at Soccer City Complex on Saturday,” added Jessica.
Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers at R40 for adults and R10 for children.
Kick off for this encounter is billed for 8.pm
