TKO Semi-finals in Numbers

The action kicks off on Saturday afternoon (3pm) when SuperSport United meet with long-time provincial foes Orlando Pirates.

Both sides have been amongst the goals in the Telkom Knockout, Pirates scoring an impressive seven from their two games, with SuperSport on five goals from their two matches so far.

SuperSport have however conceded a goal in each of their previous games, while Bucs have given away only one goal in total.

Leading up Saturday’s game at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pirates have won only one of the last five outings, scoring seven goals and conceding five. It should be noted however that three of those games were CAF Champions League matches, Bucs having won two and drawn three of their five most recent domestic games.

Recent form in all competitions for the Tshwane side has been inconsistent, with Matsatsantsa winning three and losing two of their last five matches, scoring eight and conceding six.

The second game of the game sees Kaizer Chiefs taking on the MTN8 champs Platinum Stars at the FNB Stadium (8.15pm).

The current Absa Premiership champions have won two and lost two of their last five matches in all competitions, netting seven while Itumeleng Khune has picked up the ball out of his own net on four occasions.

In the Telkom Knockout, Chiefs have scored four goals and conceded once in their two games, which included a penalty shoot-out win over Free State Stars after the match had ended 1-1.

Dikwena have won three and lost just once in their last five encounters, the club from the North West finding the net nine times in that period, while conceding six. Stars have scored four and conceded once in their current TKO run.


In terms of personal accoldares, Pirates striker Lennox Bacela is sprinting away with the top goal-scorer award, with a superb five goals to his name already. Of the players in action this weekend, AmaKhosi defender Tefu Mashamaite is on two, as his club-mate Knowledge
