THERE was a goal fest up in the Free State as African Warriors hammered Black Leopards 5-2 in an NFD match on Sunday afternoon.
Lidoda Duvha have dished out a couple of hidings themselves this season but were on the receiving end this time as Warriors put an end to a run of four matches without a win in the league.
The hosts were off to a great start when they took a two goal lead thanks to strikes by Thamsanqa Ngema and Bonginkosi Nxumalo. But the Limpopo side were still in the game at half time as defender Matome Kgoetyane and then striker David Zulu found the net for the visitors.
But three unanswered goals in the second half, a brace from Vincent Pule and a Rodney Nzimande goal, ensured it was a long trip home for Leopards, who now gear up for next week’s Limpopo derby against Baroka FC.
In Sunday afternoon’s other NFD action, there were no goals in the Mpumalanga derby as Witbank Spurs and Sivutsa Stars played to a 0-0 draw.
It was a tightly contested game which could have gone either way, both teams squandering good chances to score.-www.psl.co.za
