We are ready for the elite league-Bobe

BLACK Leopards captain Mongezi Bobe says they are ready to face Absa Premiership teams after a good run in the Old Mutual Mangaung Cup yesterday in Botshabelo.

Leopards beat last season’s title chasers Ajax Cape Town 1-0 and lost 5-3 to Bloemfontein Celtic in a penalty shootout.

“It was what we need to gauge ourselves against top teams and I think we did ok. It was a good run for all the players and good to make it to the final,” Bobe said.

“I don’t think we far off the pace, in fact, we are ready for the Premiership teams and to step up the gear which we will. We beat Ajax and held on against a very experienced Celtic side. There is no shame in losing as this was preparation for us.”

“It was a good competition but we were looking at new players, new combo’s, so it all worked out on the day.”

Playmaker Robert Ng’ambi left Lidoda Duvha recently and Bobe admitted they will miss him but have to go on.

“He is a good friend and we will miss him. He was here for so long and an important part of this team, but in football this happens. Players are always moving on and we have to adjust. There are good players here that can do the job and yes, we just have t move on,” he said of the former number 10
