BAROKA AND TUKS QUALIFY FOR PROMOTIONAL PLAY-OFFS

IT’S official, Baroka FC and University of Pretoria will have an opportunity of earning their passage through to the Dstv Premiership via the Promotional Play-Offs.

This after the two side played to  1-all draw in the last match of the Motsepe Foundation Championship of the 2023/24 Season at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday afternoon (May 20) to finished second and third on the log. Up the Tuks finished second 49 points while Bakgaga wrapped their season on the third position on 47 points.

JDR Stars who were on a neck to neck with Baroka with 46 points before today lost 2-1 at home (Giants Stadium, Shoshanguve) to Maritzburg United who had an outside chance of qualifying for the play-offs. United went on to finish their season on the fourth position with 46 points, pushing JDR to fifth with the better goal difference as they both bagged the same number of points.

NB La Masia and Platinum City Rovers’ relegation to the ABC Motsepe League was also confirmed after the two sides finished the season on the 15th and 16th position with 31 and 25 points respectively.

Motsepe Foundation Championship’s 2023/24’s last matches results are as follows

Magesi FC 2 v Venda Football Academy 2, University of Pretoria 1 v Baroka 1, JDR Stars 1 v Maritzburg United 2, Upington City 0 v Casric Stars 0, Marumo Gallants 1 v Orbit College 0, Black Leopards 2 v NB La Masia 0, Platinum City 1 v Hungry Lions 2 and Milford FC 2 v Pretoria Callies 1

Meanwhile the Premier Soccer League have confirmed that the Promotional Play-Offs involving Baroka, Pretoria University and the club that will finish on the 15th position of the Dstv Premiership will be played from June 2-19. The draw is expected to be conducted on Tuesday, May 21 and will be LIVE on “The Championship Show” on SuperSport PSL channel (202), starting at 6pm.
