LIMPOPO Tourism Agency (LTA) is thrilled to have provincial tourism products participating in the 2023 edition of World Tourism Market (WTM) in London. The travel show commenced on Monday the 6 th until the 8th November 2023 with the Minister of Tourism in South Africa, Ms. Patricia de Lille, leading the delegation.
LTA is partnering with South African Tourism (SAT) on the execution of the participation of the 2023 trade show. The Agency will thus be participating in the SAT pavilion exhibition platform. Limpopo is represented by Ms. Duduzile Nxumalo, General Manager of Park Inn by Radisson Polokwane and Ms. Sandy van Niekerk, General Manager of Pezulu Tree House Lodge in Hoedspruit.
WTM London, which is seen as the ultimate destination for travel and tourism, is the leading global event for the travel industry followed by International Tourism Borse (ITB) in Berlin and Africa’s Travel Indaba in South Africa being third. WTM provides a unique opportunity for the whole global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business under one roof. All sectors of the travel industry are represented including Tourist Boards, Airlines, Cruise, Hotels, Luxury Travel, Responsible Tourism and Travel Technology London facilitates business with its unique networking events, including the ever-popular Buyers’ Speed Networking sessions. WTM London will be one of the first major physical international travel events taking place this year, attracting huge global attention in what will be a pivotal time for the travel industry.
WTM London will proactively target and attract the highest quality new and existing buyers keen to gain market intelligence, explore new ideas and meet with new and existing suppliers. This year really is about bringing the travel community together and helping to rebuild one of the best industries in the world, especially as the industry recovers from the effects of COVID-19 pandemic. Reconnect, Rebuild, and Innovate are the buzz words for this year’s edition of the show.
The CEO of LTA, Mr. Moses Ngobeni, is grateful that the tourism sector is back with international events returning to boost travel. He said: “We are thrilled that this number one travel and tourism show is back, and our hope is that it will inspire travel to our country but most importantly our province. The objectives for us to participate in this big show are, to position Limpopo Province as the most preferred eco-tourism destination LTA is thrilled for Limpopo to be part of the World Tourism Market in London Page 2 to create awareness and drive demand for international tourism travel into the province and to strengthen the existing relationship with the UK market. We are also confident that the ripple effects of our participation at this show will be realized later when more international tourists will be coming our shores. This will no doubt make a dent on the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality that our country continues to face”.
Ngobeni made a call to the people of the province to continue traversing their province of Limpopo as it has so much on offer. He concluded, “Limpopo’s participation at WTM London is to showcase the province’s tourism offerings to international trade and to position our province as a leading tourism destination in Southern Africa. Limpopo has recently been confirmed Statistics South Africa as one of the top three most preferred destinations by South Africans and we urge all to visit our province ‘this summer as there is so much more to enjoy in Limpopo”.
