POLOKWANE: Members of the Provincial Organized Crime Unit and the Provincial Detectives arrested two suspects and confiscated drugs worth over fourmillion rands in Polokwane yesterday afternoon, Friday 04 March 2022.The Police received information about the presence of drug dealers at Thornhil suburb of Polokwane and on arrival at the identified premises they found a 24 year old woman and when searching the house, they found heroine and Crystal meth drugs worth R4.2 million rands. A foreign National believed to be the woman’s boyfriend allegedly fled the scene after realising that the police were approaching the premises.The operatives proceeded to the next identified house in the same estate and arrested a 50 years old man after they reportedly found drugs worth over R400 000.00. The suspect’s motor vehicle was also seized.The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers, who visited the scene together with the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Crime Detection, has praised the officers for promptly reacting to the information which led to the arrest and confiscation of huge quantities of drugs. “This is one of the most significant successes that the Police have achieved thus far. The Police in this Province will continue to operate and target drug dealers to save the lives of the People of Limpopo,” said Major General Scheepers. “Soon after the MEC for Transport and Community Safety Mrs Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has, during the release of the Provincial Crime Statistics for the third quarter of 2021/2022 financial year, reiterated the need to come up with strategies and intensify the operations to root out drug syndicates in the Province, the Police succeeded in this breakthrough.” Concluded Major General Scheepers.The arrested suspects will appear in Polokwane magistrate court on Monday 07 March 2022. More arrests are expected.
