The Mahindra Pik Up does not mean one thing for everybody, and that explains why there are different derivatives to choose from according to one’s needs.
And, in the mix, there is the Mahindra Pik Up S11 Automatic double cab. The S11 stands out from other Pik Ups through the following pointers:
New automatic gearbox and mHawk engine
Lifestyle bakkie lovers do not the inconvenience of changing gears, more so in heavy traffic and when towing a caravan. The new automatic gearbox is what the Pik Up needed. The gearbox is mated to the hill-descent control and cruise control systems for safe passage down steep declines. The automatic gearbox is complimented by the 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine. The produces 103 kW power and 320 Nm torque, sufficient enough for powerful, reliable and efficient driving. The S11 also boasts an 80-litre tank and fuel, with fuel consumption hovering around the 8-9 litres per 100 km, despite the 7.9 litres per 100 km set down by Mahindra. However, what’s more important about the S11’s fuel efficiency is that one can drive up to 800km distance without stop for refueling!
Ergonomics and driving experience
Whether you’re driving happily along or just sitting on the passenger’s side, looking at scenery, the Pik Up’s high windows and large front windshield ensure your view is always as good as can be. The S11 is also the only bakkie in the range to have a standard rear-view camera. The satellite buttons on the steering wheel come in handy, to avoid fumbling with radio systems or touchscreens. , if it’s not done exactly right it can become a slight irritation. The voice control system can be both useful and source of irritation as it can gets activated by mistake when one turns the steering wheel at the corners.
The space at the back is too tight to carry adults for a long trip or adventure. The backseat is good enough for children because even teens can struggle to sit comfortably at the back. However, above all, the S11 Automatic Pik Up is a smooth ride, standing 210mm above ground.

The Mahindra S11 is available and ready to perform for ymodel has all the modern convenience features that we’ve come to expect from lifestyle vehicles, such as electric windows all ‘round, armrests in front, climate control, Bluetooth, AUX/USB ports, a touch screen system with sat nav, puddle lamps, fog lamps in front, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, and automatic headlamps. The standard cornering lights are quite uncommon on bakkies, so kudos to Mahindra for adding them. Safety features include ABS, EBD, two airbags, and traction control.
